Just a short walk from the beach, Chapin Memorial Park offers a well-maintained playground with shaded areas, perfect for those hot summer days.
The play equipment is suitable for a variety of ages and the park is usually less crowded than others in the area, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon of play.

McLean Park, located in the heart of North Myrtle Beach just 2 blocks west of Ocean Boulevard between 1st and 3rd Avenues, is a 10-acre natural haven that includes a 2-acre lake.
The park offers a variety of amenities such as two playgrounds catering to different age groups, restrooms, a paved half-mile walking path with a fitness trail, two hard surface tennis courts, a youth baseball field, and parking areas near the main entrance.
It also hosts a variety of events, including the "Sounds of Summer" concerts and outdoor movie screenings, making it a popular venue for city-wide events.

Located just a few blocks from the beach, Central Park is a classic playground with full facilities. There are multiple ages play structures, walking paths, shaded shelters with tables and grills, a mini library for giving and taking gently used books, tennis courts, and baseball fields.
The restrooms are spacious, clean and updated. There is overflow parking across the street and benches at the playground to sit in the shade if you prefer watching your kids play.
Generally, this place is pretty quiet unless there is a baseball game going on at the nearby baseball field.

This is a small neighborhood park that includes a basketball court, playground with climbing frame, swing set and a picnic area. The public restroom was surprisingly clean.
The park is only 1.5 acres but it has a dedicated parking area on the street around the corner. Signs are posted that street parking on Windy Hill Road is not permitted.
The park includes a marker "This park is dedicated to Coach Yow, who in 1950, formed a youth camp that gave the children of North Myrtle Beach organized activities when none had existed. His example, dedication and love taught our children the values and citizenship for which he is remembered. Dedicated August 1984. North Myrtle Beach Mayor and City Council."

There are 2 separate playgrounds at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex (green and red), designated for kids of different age groups. The red playground is the most popular and often the busiest.
There's plenty of parking at the complex and the on-site bathrooms are a god-send in case your little one needs to use them while they're here.
This is one of our favorite playgrounds in the area because it offers an all-in-one experience, with other things to do with kids aside from the playgrounds, including walking trails, water activities and concession stands.

The playground at Hill Street Park is small and basic, but a great option if you want to take your kids somewhere to play that's off the beaten path.
The park has its own parking lot, located directly next to the playground itself.
There is an on-site bathroom available, but it's a porta potty, which can be challenging to use during the hot Summer.
Safety: Are the play structures in good condition? Is the playground regularly maintained? Do the play areas have adequate cushioning (like rubber, sand, or mulch) in case of falls?
Age appropriateness: Does the playground cater to the age group of your children? Some playgrounds have different sections for different age groups, and others do not.
Shade: Are there shaded areas, either from trees or canopies, to protect against the sun during hot days? This is particularly important in Myrtle Beach, when summer temperatures can reach the high 80's.
Facilities: Are there nearby restrooms? How about picnic tables or benches where you can sit and watch your children play? Availability of water fountains or concession stands could also be useful to know.

Wet Wipes/Hand Sanitizer: These can come in handy for cleaning hands before snack time or after playing on the equipment. They're also useful for quickly dealing with spills or messes.
