In December we rented a house for a week in July. In July when we checked in we found that we had been rebooked from the house we rented into a condo 16 blocks away from where we reserved. Instead of the trip we planned and paid for, we had to deal with parking challenges (only two cars allowed, the house we paid for could easily support 4) and managing everyone's activities (in a house people can come and go as they please, in the condo we had one key fob that was needed to access parking, the pool, and the beach - so it was functionally impossible to split our group up. The condo was dirty when we arrived and there was a large broken mirror lying shattered in the front bedroom. The Fred Holland office couldn't be bothered to pretend to care about failing to give us the vacation rental we signed a contract and paid thousands of dollars for, just sort of shrugged and said "Oh, someone should have told you." Of course they should have, but they didn't, and any enjoyment of our trip was because of the joys of staying on Folly Beach. Those joys were a lot harder to savor while having to swallow being carelessly cheated by an egregiously irresponsible company (of course, no partial refund or any kind of recompense was offered. They knew we weren't going to walk away from our trip the day of - we were trapped and they couldn't have cared less.)

We have been renting here for many years but no more. We rented 1622 E Ashley. It was advertised with internet and cable but had neither. Evidently the agency doesn’t verify this stuff. Washer didn’t rinse or spin. No owner accountability. You are on your own.

Great experience every year! Very affordable and selection of rentals right on the water! Our place had a deck so we took some pilot whale photos.

NO STARS (if that was a choice) - As a home owner in Folly and rent to tenants - this is the worst management company to work with. After a long tedious road of them managing our beach house, we dropped them due to negligent work ethic and services. After the drop they told us we needed to fix up railings, decking, etc. I understand the safety of rental users but Fred Holland had come out o fix these particular issues in the past 2-3 months due to the same issue. How did they miss these issues they have painted upon us? They didn't notice the other issue? This is what we pay this company for as we don't live in the area. The funny thing is they didn't use a permit to fix these issues in the past and now need one. This seems like a blow to me as we have decided to go with another company. STAY AWAY! This company is totally flakey, corrupt and out to get you if you're not utilizing their services. All in all they have cancelled our September 2023 rentals for tenants that paid good money and seems like a blow to us as we have decided to go with another company. Seems fishy, corrupt and out to get you. We had no communication of this process until we decided to go with another management company. This is not good practice and should be noticed and told to all. I am not understanding how you missed a big step in your contacting steps when other decking was fixed in the past months.

When we arrived my husband shouted “ I LOVE this place” because the first thing you see is the views of the beach. The views from the master bedroom is even better. We were sad to leave but as we said goodbye to the perfect place for us my husband’s departing words were will be back to do this again very soon! Having easy access to the beach and an outdoor wash station to shower and clean our feet was great because the sand did not track on the deck or in the house. Speaking of the deck, it was our favorite place to start our morning and end our day! A huge thanks to Anna Spearman West for making our week so very special and so memorable!

We booked a large house to host a party and were told the week of arrival that there was an additional fee of several hundred dollars. I asked specifically about this when I booked the property and was told it wasn't a problem at that time. We never would have booked that house had we known. Wasn't happy with the customer service trying to solve this issue either.

This should be a ZERO. We had an absolutely atrocious experience with Fred Holland Realty last summer, 2017, at 601 West Ashley. LaJaun Kennedy was kept abreast of all the issues, she argued with us. When you pay >$8,000 for a oceanfron beach home, you do expect the elevator to work, you expect the bathrooms to be clean, not coated in mildew, the old coffee grounds to be removed from the coffeemaker. You expect the oven to WORK. You expect the only 4 oceanfront rockers to actually be 'nice', not falling apart. You expect the outside showers to not be covered in SAND. Terrible experience, at such a lovely beach. We have stayed at many vacation homes, and never have we had such an inept realty staff/workers. It starts at the top, so this would be LaJuan Kennedy.

We have been renting condos & homes from Fred Holland Realty at Folly Beach for over 15 years and highly recommend them. Great people who are very helpful! We love Folly Beach & FHR!

I would also give a "0" rating on my latest experience with LaJuan and Fred Holland Realty. I must say that in years past there has not been a real issue. With that being said, this year was a major problem. When we arrived we discovered the posted pictures of the property did not look like what we encountered. We had to call for silverware, dishes, glasses, tea pitcher, etc. We had to wash and disinfect the kitchen drawers- bug droppings and filthy drawer liners. The kitchen was also very poorly supplied. We have a large group and cook, which was a challenge. There was also hair and mold on the bathroom floor at the tub- which we also had to scrub. MOLD was also under carpet in a bedroom. The furniture was ancient and filthy. The beds were most uncomfortable and every time you moved they spoke to you. We went to talk to Ms. Kennedy but she never spoke to us. We have requested at least a partial refund- holding our breath. There were broken windows and screens, no deck chairs, and filth everywhere. If this is the kind of property they represent then I have no use for them in the future. When Fred Holland was in charge we did not have these issues. Ms. Kennedy stated in a magazine article that she liked challenges- but when faced with one she disappears.

Stay away from this real estate company. We rented 110 W. Huron.First off they over charged us $600. They didn?t notice, we did. They did refund our account. The dryer in the unit didn?t work. We washed a load of laundry just to have to hang clothes all over the house to dry. We?ve made several calls but no help whatsoever. The living room light and ceiling fan didn?t work. Dishes were dirty. Tried washing them in the dishwasher but that didn?t work either. Carpet in the home was nasty and very stained. The bed made so much noise you couldn?t roll over or you?d wake everyone in the house up. Very busy restaurant next door at lunch every day. So busy that patrons would park in your parking area and the rental company nor the police would do anything to help. All in all the worst place we stayed at in years.

Fred Holland Realty saved our vacation! On our first night of vacation staying at one of their rentals we encountered an "issue" that made it very unpleasant for us to stay there. Not only did LaJuan respond immediately to my frantic phone calls (on a Sunday) but found us another lovely home to stay in right away! The staff was pleasant, helpful and did an amazing job to save our vacation from disaster. First rate customer service!
